Scientists from the University of Missouri are studying the genetic make-up of cats after it was revealed their DNA may contain crucial information about what causes certain diseases.
Chemists from the University of California Irvine and the University of Western Australia have proved that unboiling an egg is possible by adding urea to break down proteins.
The reconstruction (pictured) took a Lego builder 470 hours to complete and consists of more than 190,000 blocks. It is on display at Sydney University’s Nicholson Museum.

Researchers combing the ocean depths have made a surprising discovery about the frequency with which stars beyond our solar system produce special heavy elements such as gold and uranium.
Stellar explosions such as supernovae or star collisions emit extremely bright light and vast amounts of energy and heavy matter. Half of the heavy elements in nature, including gold and uranium, are crea

New laser-driven compression experiments reproduce the conditions deep inside exotic super-Earths and giant planet cores, and the conditions during the violent birth of Earth-like planets, documenting the material properties that determined planets’ formation and evolution processes.
The experiments, reported in Science, reveal the unusual properties of silica – the key constituent of rock

Nine years after leaving Earth, the New Horizons spacecraft is at last drawing close to Pluto and on Sunday was expected to start shooting photographs of the dwarf planet.
The first mission to Pluto began in January 2006 when an Atlas V rocket blasted off from Cape Canaveral in Florida and hauled the piano-sized New Horizons craft away from Earth and on a three-billion mile journey.
