15 Photos From Astronaut’s Year In Space That Are Out Of This World

When NASA astronaut Scott Kelly returns to Earth on Tuesday night after spending nearly an entire year in space, he will be leaving behind an awesome view of our planet — from the vantage point of the International Space Station.

Before Kelly was launched to the space station last year, President Barack Obama commented in his 2015 State of the Union address, “Good luck, Captain. Make sure to Instagram it. We’re proud of you.”

Indeed, Kelly not only posted his experiences on Instagram, but he also tweeted them and chronicled them on Facebook — reportedly sharing about 1,000 images with the world.

Wow. Did I really tweet 1,000 photos? Guess I’ve been here a while. Thanks for the share, Tonto! #YearInSpace https://t.co/pJYSumxJan
