Brilliant Fireball Meteor Over Thailand Captured On Camera

Stunning dashcam footage shows what experts have called a “fireball meteor” streaking across the night sky in Thailand.

The object, which was a brilliant green, was spotted over Bangkok on Monday night. Several motorists captured video of the eye-catching phenomenon.

The Thai Astronomical Society identified the object as a “fireball meteor,” a term that refers to meteors that are very bright.

The organization said on its Facebook page that the meteor’s chemical composition caused its green hue.

According to the American Meteor Society, several thousand fireball meteors occur in the Earth’s atmosphere every day. However, the group says it’s very unusual for people to catch a glimpse of them as they often happen “over the oceans and uninhabited regions, and a good many are masked by daylight.”
