Ferroptosis, a novel form of non-apoptotic cell death, holds great therapeutic potential

Ferroptosis is a newly discovered form of cell death believed to be involved in numerous pathological processes. Now, scientists at the Helmholtz Zentrum München show that this particular form of cell death can be pharmacologically inhibited. These findings open up a new area in drug research that holds great therapeutic potential for various diseases, particularly degenerative disorders.
