Republicans Just Don’t Get Climate Science, And Here’s Proof
Now that the world has a climate agreement, will Republican U.S. representatives and presidential candidates stop spewing false science? A new video (above) from Americans United For Change, a progressive advocacy group affiliated with the White House, doesn’t make us feel too confident.
The video features presidential candidates, including tycoon Donald Trump, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas). It also features Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), who famously brought a snowball onto the Senate floor to show that the planet couldn’t possibly be warming.
“You know what this is? It’s a snowball that’s just from outside here, so it’s very very cold out,” said Inhofe, who denies humans’ role in climate change. “Man can’t change climate.”
The science-denying statements of 2016 presidential candidates like Trump and Cruz are particularly baffling, as a poll in March showed 72 percent of likely 2016 voters want climate change action from the U.S. government.
