Stunning New Time Lapse Video Shows The Sun Up Close And Hot

It’s the sun, like few have ever seen it before.

A new time lapse video posted on Vimeo features images taken by the Solar Dynamics Observatory spacecraft between 2011 and 2015, and shows plasma eruptions, solar filaments, coronal rain and more. And if you look closely, you’ll even catch a comet zooming by.

The video was put together by Michael König using pictures from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.
